Economics- Week 4

3rd Period-  We will be doing a prices exercise on Monday.  We will begin discussion of prices and the market this week.  Topics will include price ceilings, price floors, perfect competition, monopolistic competition, and oligopolies.  We will review at the end of the week.  Journals are due on Friday and daily grades will be given out on Wednesday.

4th Period-  We will take our test over Supply and Demand on Monday.  We will be doing a prices exercise on Tuesday and begin our discussion over prices and the market on Wednesday.  Journals are due on Friday.  Daily grades and vocabulary over prices will  be given out Wednesday and Thursday.  We will go over the Supply and Demand test sometime during the week as well.

A.P. Government- Week 4

This week we will continue and finish our discussion over Civil Liberties.  Topics will include rights of criminal defendants, cruel and unusual punishment, search and seizure, and the right to privacy.  Daily grades given out last week are due this week.  We will review at the end of the week.  I will let you know if you have journals due this week. 

Economics- Week 3

This week we will start our discussion over Supply and Demand.  Topics will include the Law of Supply, Law of Demand, elasticity of demand and supply, supply and demand schedules, and determinants of each.  Daily grades will be given out Tuesday and Thursday and we will have a journal due this Friday.  We will probably review Thursday or Friday and test the next day.  Make sure you bring your books with you this week.  We will also go over your Unit I test.

A.P. Government- Week 3

This week we will begin our discussion over Civil Liberties.  Topics will include the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, and 14th Amendments.  We will learn about the Supreme Court rulings that have set the precedents in our society today.  Journals will be due on Friday and daily grades will be given out on Wednesday and Thursday.  We will have class discussion over the handout given out on Friday tomorrow.

Economics- Spring Week 2

This week we will finish economic systems and start the role of government in the united states economy.  We will finish notes on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Topics will include the free market, externalities, the budget, taxes, and government regulation.  We will review on Thursday and test on Friday.  Daily grades given out before last week are due tomorrow, and daily grades given out tomorrow will be due on Friday.  We will try to make it to the media center to have you finish your country profiles. 

A.P. Government- Week 2

I hope you guys enjoyed your week long break.  This week we will finish the Bureaucracy and review for the test that will be next week.  Topics will include implementation, Iron Triangles, and the characteristics of being a federal employee.  Daily grades will be given out this week and your agency profiles are due the first day your back in class.  Be ready to present those to the class.  Journals will be due on Friday. 

Honors Economics- Spring Week 1

This week we will students will receive their syllabus and expectations in the class.  These are to be signed by both parent and student and returned as soon as possible.  We will also begin our discussion over the basic concepts of economics and economic systems.  Topics will include micro and macro, opportunity cost, scarcity, the factors of production, the circular flow model, and the different types of economic systems.  There will be a daily grade handed out on Thursday, which is due on Monday and we will be going to the media center on Friday to work on an economic profile project.  There is no journal due this week.

A.P. Government- Spring Week 1

This week we will begin discussing the bureaucracy.  Topics will include its history, changes and reforms, types of agencies and departments, and its role in the government.  Students will also receive an agency profile assignment which will be due next week and we will go to the media center at the end of the week so they can work on it.  There is no journal this week and the students will be given the information about their next quiz, which is also next week.  We will go over the Judicial Branch test as well.
