The 2011 KMHS Poetry Out Loud competition is right around the corner on February 3. What is Poetry Out Loud? It is a cool way to enjoy poetry as it is meant to be enjoyed... OUT LOUD. When you read a poem on a page, it can be lifeless, but when you hear a poem, it comes alive -- it has a VOICE.
"The ear is the only true writer and the only true reader." ~ Robert Frost
In Poetry Out Loud, students recite poetry and compete to win prizes. Here at KMHS, the prizes include gift cards to Books-a-Million and Starbucks, and the winner travels to compete in the Semi-final competition at Emory University. The Georgia winner will receive $200 and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to compete at the national level. Last year's KMHS winner, Gabe Mustin, also won the state competition and represented Georgia in Washington. Now it is YOUR turn...
If you are interested in competing in the KMHS Poetry Out Loud competition, you must meet with Ms. Lanford before January 27.
