Today, we learned to write the equation of an absolute value equation given the description of the transformation.
Students had a homework quiz over graphing absolute value functions.
Classwork/Homework: Students had 20 - 30 minutes to work on this assignment in class. Complete the Graphing Worksheet: Absolute Value. Download Graphing Worksheet Absolute Value
Today, we learned to graph absolute value functions using transformations with a, h, and k. We described the transformation and identified the following characteristics for each graph: domain, range, increase interval, decrease interval, and extrema. We had a 2.4 note sheet for today's lesson. Download 2.4 Notes Graphing Absolute Value Functions
Homework: Complete the Graphing Absolute Value Transformations Worksheet. Remember to identify values for a, h, and k and make a table of values to graph the function. Graph and complete the indicated characteristics and describe the transformation. Also include the extrema! Download Graphing Absolute Value Transformations Worksheet
I am available for extra help in the mornings from 7:45 - 8:15. Come see me if you have any questions!
Homework: Complete the 2.1 Practice B Worksheet. For problems # 1 & 2, state the domain and range, determine if the relation is a function, and if it is a function, determine if it is a one-to-one function. For problems #7 - 14 graph each line on the provided graphs (label the graph with the problem number and equation of the line given). For problems # 15 - 20, there are two parts: decide whether the function is linear AND evaluate. Download 2.1 Practice B Worksheet
I am available for help in the mornings from 7:45 - 8:15. Come see me if you have any questions!
We learned to identify the domain and range of a relation, determine if the relation is a function, and determine if the function is one-to-one.
Classwork: We completed problems #5-14 on the front side of the 5-1 Relations & Functions Worksheet & from the textbook, Pg. 35 #3- 9 all. Download 5-1 RElations & Functions Worksheet
Homework: Students had 15 minutes to complete this assignment in class. From the workbook, complete Pg. 37 - 39 # 1- 22 all.
Classwork/Homework: Students completed the front side (riddle side) of the More Graphing Lines Worksheet and need to finish the back side of the worksheet for homework. Download More Graphing Lines Worksheets
There is a quiz tomorrow over sections 2.1 & 2.2 and graphing lines!
We reviewed how to solve and graph absolute value inequatilities. We learned to represent the solution set in interval notation.
Classwork/Homework: From the absolute value equations and inequalities worksheet, complete the following problems on a separate sheet of paper: Set 1 (Equations) # 10, 16, 18, 24, 26, 28 & Set 2 (Inequalities) Solve and graph the solution set. Also represent the solution set in interval notation for # 6, 10, 12, 14, 23, 25, 27, 30. Download Absolute Value Equations and Inequalities Worksheet
There is a 2.1 - 2.2 Mini-Quiz tomorrow. Students may use notes to complete this mini-quiz. We will only spend 10 minutes discussing homework. If you have questions, please come see me tomorrow morning at 7:45!
There will be a quiz this Friday, 1/20/12, over sections 2.1 ( using formulas to find missing values and writing equations of a line from a table), 2.2 (solving absolute value equations and inequalities), and graphing a line using slope (m) and y-intercept (b).
We learned to solve absolute value inequalities, including special cases.
Homework: From the textbook, Pg. 30 #17 - 24 all : solve and graph these problems. This is the same page/worksheet given to you yesterday (front side). Here is a copy of the textbook page if you need it. Download Textbook Pg. 30 & Absolute Vaule Equation WS
We began with a solving equations worksheet, which was collected and graded for accuracy.
Today's lesson continued with section 2.1. We learned to write an equation of a line given a table of values. We learned to solve word problems using linear equations. Examples were from the workbook, Pg. 26 # 9 - 15 all. Download Workbook Pg. 26
In class, we practiced more word problems from a worksheet.
Homework: From your textbook, complete Pg. 26 Set 2.1 A # 1- 7 odd, 9 - 17 all and Pg. 27 Set 2.1 B # 1 &2. You must represent an equation for each word problem. Download Textbook Pg. 26 & 27 (2.1 Set A & B)
The make up and retest for the Right Triangles Trigonometry Test is this afternoon at 3:35 in my room, tomorrow morning at 7:30 in Room 505 with Mrs. Bartlett, or tomorrow afternoon at 3:35 in my room. These are the only opportunities to make up and retake this test!
